Jakarta, Indonesia – The Public Financial Accounting Study Program (PFASP), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Terbuka, as part of its commitment to fostering students’ global foreign language competencies, proudly hosted the Hello Hallo Club (H2C) event titled “Sprechen wir Deutsch! Yuk, Kenalan dengan Bahasa Jerman.” Held on Monday, 26 May 2025, at 3:00 PM (Jakarta Time), the event was conducted virtually via Zoom and broadcasted on the official FEB Universitas Terbuka YouTube channel.
This international event featured an inspiring session with Anggya Rahayu, S.Pd, a German language educator from SMKN 3 Sukabumi, Indonesia. The session introduced participants to the fundamentals of the German language while providing insights into German culture and the potential academic and professional opportunities associated with mastering the language. Designed to be both educational and interactive, the event allowed participants to engage in practical language exercises and real-time discussions.
Beyond linguistic introduction, this initiative serves as a platform for students’ personal development in responding to global dynamics. It also broadens their perspective on international career paths and social contributions. Key topics covered in the session included:
- Personal Development and International Community Service
The speaker emphasised the strategic role of foreign language skills in boosting self-confidence, expanding global networks, and enhancing the capacity to participate in international community engagement initiatives.
- Employment Opportunities in Germany
Participants were introduced to Germany’s robust vocational education system and its openness to skilled international workers. The session explored legal and ethical pathways to employment, including further education and social work programs.
- Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ): A Social Programme with Impact
A highlight of the session was the introduction of the Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ), a voluntary social work program in Germany that welcomes youth from both domestic and international backgrounds. FSJ offers not only meaningful work experience in areas such as elderly care, hospitals, and special education, but also benefits such as stipends, accommodation, language training, and residency permits throughout the program duration.
The Hello Hallo Club (H2C) initiative forms part of PFASP’s broader strategy to enhance students’ soft skills and foreign language exposure, crucial elements in preparing students to thrive in a globally connected academic and professional landscape. This initiative aligns with the goals of the DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak program, which promotes inclusive and impactful learning innovations.
Notably, this event was also attended by orphaned youths aged 15 to 20 from Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan Malaysia. Their participation reflects PFASP’s commitment to inclusive international outreach, as knowledge sharing during the H2C program contributes to strengthening the social and educational impact of PFASP across borders.
Looking ahead, PFASP is set to establish collaborative partnerships with the Indonesian Student Association in Germany (PPI Jerman) and other stakeholders engaged in soft skills and language development. These collaborations aim to foster the exchange of best practices in foreign language acquisition and international engagement, thereby enhancing individual competencies and advancing global readiness among students.
