Public Financial Accounting Study Programme’s Webinar: Navigating the Complexities of Fraud Investigation and Forensic Accounting

The Public Financial Accounting Study Programme, in collaboration with the Internal Audit Office, the Association Of Public Sector Accounting Educator (APSAE), and Forum Dosen Akuntansi Publik (FDAP-IAI KAPd), proudly hosted an international webinar titled “Navigating the Complexities of Fraud Investigation and Forensic Accounting” on May 29, 2024. The webinar featured two prominent speakers in the field of forensic accounting and fraud investigation. The event was officially opened with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, represented by Olivia Idrus, S.E., M.Sc., and opening remarks by Dr. Hendrian, S.E., M.Si., Head of the Internal Audit Office at Universitas Terbuka.

The event commenced with the opening session led by the host, Anindita Arifah Sekarsonya, S.Ars., and the singing of the Indonesian National Anthem and the Universitas Terbuka Hymn. The valuable speakers were Dr. Mohamad Mahsun, S.E., M.Si., AK., CA., CPA., CFrA., CIPSAS., CPI, CHFI, and Dr. Ass. Prof. Tatiana Antipova moderated by Lasando Lumban Gaol, S.E., M.Si., Ak..

Dr. Mohamad Mahsun, an expert in public financial regulation and forensic accounting, delivered a presentation on psychological profiling in fraud investigations. His presentation highlighted the psychological motivations and personality traits that drive individuals to commit fraudulent acts. Meanwhile, Dr. Tatiana Antipova, an international expert in information technology and forensic accounting, presented methodologies for preventing budget fraud using digital technology. She emphasized the importance of modern technology in detecting and preventing fraud.

The webinar successfully attracted active participation from academics and professionals, creating a platform for constructive discussion and knowledge exchange. With insightful presentations and interactive Q&A sessions, the webinar provided valuable insights into the challenges and solutions in fraud investigation and forensic accounting.
